Dark Patterns & Unfair Trading Practices: What’s Legal and What’s Changing?
November 12 @ 6:00 pm
$65.00 – $75.00
PLEASE NOTE: This event will be held in-person only.
Explore manipulative online marketing techniques – commonly known as dark patterns – and their legal implications in this panel discussion, hosted by Dentons. With recent consultations by the ACCC and the Commonwealth Government, reforms to the Australian Consumer Law may soon prohibit many widespread practices such as drip pricing, dynamic pricing and other design strategies that influence consumer behaviour. Our panel will unpack what constitutes a dark pattern, what may be outlawed and how businesses can prepare for the proposed changes.
Panelists:
- Chandni Gupta, Deputy CEO and Digital Policy Director, Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC)
- Professor Jeannie Paterson, Co-Director, Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Ethics (CAIDE), University of Melbourne
- Sarla Fernando, Deputy Chair, ADMA Regulatory and Advocacy Working Group
- Vanessa Gore, Partner, Dentons
Moderated by Michael Park (Partner, Dentons).
PLEASE NOTE: CAMLA members need to log into the CAMLA website to be able to purchase discounted Member tickets.
