MEET THE PANEL:


Cameron Cross, General Counsel, nbn
Cameron Cross is General Counsel – Customer and Commercial at nbn and leads a team of five providing legal support for the products, supply terms and customer facing aspects of nbn. Cameron has almost 20 years’ in-house and law firm experience in the corporate, technology, online, media and telecommunications industries across Australasia. He began his career with Ashurst in its corporate advisory group working mainly in mergers and acquisitions.

Thomas Jones, Partner, Bird & Bird
Thomas is a competition and regulatory lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience advising some of the largest communications and technology clients in the Asia Pacific, and globally. He is Co-Head of the firm’s global Satellites and Space Activities Group and a member of the global Tech and Comms Steering Group.  At Bird & Bird, he is at the forefront of developments in 5G, emerging technologies, virtual networks, integrated communications and LEO satellites. His communications and technology clients include NBN Co, Cisco, OneWeb, Speedcast International and Vodafone. Earlier in his career Thomas was a key regulatory advisor to Telstra, including on its many access disputes with the ACCC. Thomas is also an experienced competition partner with particular expertise in infrastructure access, merger control and general competition law issues. He is the founder and conductor of the Sydney Lawyers Orchestra.

Simone Sant, Deputy General Counsel, Vodafone
Simone Sant has been Vodafone Australia’s Deputy Corporate Counsel since August 2018 and is a member of Vodafone’s compliance committee.  Prior to that, Simone has held a number of different leadership roles in the Vodafone Australia legal team including as Head of the Network and IT legal team and Acting Head of the Sales and Customer Service legal team. Prior to joining Vodafone, Simone was a Senior Associate at leading Sydney commercial law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth.  As a commercial litigator, she acted for large corporate clients across a range of different industries, in Federal and Supreme Court proceedings.  Simone has an Honours degrees in Science and Law from the University of Sydney.

Martyn Taylor, Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright
Martyn is the current President of CAMLA and is a Partner in the Sydney office of Norton Rose Fulbright.  He heads the telecoms and media group in the Asia-Pacific.  His practice covers transactional, contentious and advisory with a focus on telecoms, media & technology (TMT).  During 2018, Martyn was named a ‘top 10’ TMT legal advisor in Asia.  Martyn has won many deal awards and was a finalist for ‘Australian Deal Maker of the Year’ in 2019.  He also won Australian Law Firm Partner of the Year in the ‘Commercial’ category.   Martyn has recently been acting for Vodafone Hutchison Australia in its $16 billion merger with TPG Telecom.
